Minecraft connection timed out: what to check

A timeout means the connection did not complete in time. It can come from an incorrect address, an unavailable server or the route between your device and the server.

Updated

Compare a fresh status check with a connection attempt from your own device.

Follow these steps

  1. Check the exact address

Copy the current connection details again. Remove webpage prefixes and accidental spaces. For Bedrock, verify the separate port field and the Bedrock endpoint.

  2. Run a fresh MineRate status check

Select the correct edition in the status checker. A response shows that our monitoring host reached that endpoint; no response alone does not prove it is unavailable to every player.

  3. Compare with another server

Try another public server for the same edition. If only one fails, check that project’s announcements. If several fail, restart the game and examine your device’s network access.

  4. Check the connection from your device

If permitted, try another network to compare results. Check whether a school or workplace network blocks gaming, or a security rule blocks Minecraft. Ask the network administrator where needed.

Common questions

MineRate says online. Why can I still fail to join?

Our checker uses a different network route and only tests the public status response. Your route, login, version or access permissions can still fail.

What should I send to the owner?

Send the error text, edition, game version, address and port, plus the time you tried. Do not send passwords or account sign-in codes.
