***Welcome to OGvZ!*** This server is a minigame server, based on a game created by "rawb" back in 2012. Popularized by PauseUnpause, Etho's Lab, and CaptainSparklez, "Dwarves vs Zombies" (DvZ) was a custom minigame played on Minecraft servers. - *Dwarves vs Zombies emerged in late 2011 on Minecraft servers as a simple PvP minigame with dwarves building defenses against zombie waves. The concept exploded in popularity through 2012, fueled by popular Minecrafters like PauseUnpause and Etho's Lab and evolving gameplay, becoming a Minecraft phenomenon with unique maps, mechanics, and dedicated communities. The concept quickly gained traction, with various server owners implementing their own takes on the game with unique mechanics and maps.Though its peak faded after 2013, DvZ holds a lasting legacy as a classic and influential chapter in Minecraft's history.* Our server's version of DvZ is called "OGvZ" (Original vs Zombies) because we strive to keep the spirit of the "original" DvZ -- with simpler gameplay and where dwarves work together to build various traps and defenses against a never-ending wave of zombies. Below, you can find the details for our gameplay loop. I hope you enjoy~! ***Gameplay:*** - *Starting the Game:* You join the server in a lobby, waiting for the game to set up in a randomized world. Once you game starts, you'll join in as a Dwarf; you spawn in a designated starting area, and your job is to work together to build a dwarven stronghold to protect your gold. Your initial kit varies depending on what class you get to pick from, selected at random. - *The Dwarven Hustle:* Dwarves immediately focus on building and fortifying the stronghold (also known as a "keep"), using gathered resources to build walls, traps, and defensive structures. This can involve mining, crafting, and coordinating your class' tasks within the team. Your unique dwarf kit allows you to supply the Dwarven team with unique tools or abilities, like a blacksmith makes weapons and a tailor makes armor! Dwarves might also work on establishing additional outposts beyond the stronghold to bolster their defenses and long-term sustainability. - *Zombie Onslaughts:* At midnight on the second in-game night, the "plague phase" kicks in. A boss spawns, and kills as many dwarves as it can! Once the boss is slain, whichever dwarf defeated it gains additional powers and a unique set of armor! During the plague phase, dwarves who die join the zombies team. But make no mistake, the zombies have more than just your average green stumbled. Skeletons, Creepers, and more all join the zombies team! Zombies aim to breach the Dwarven defenses, overwhelming them with sheer numbers or cunning tactics. They might try to break through walls, tunnel beneath them, or use strategic diversions. - *Rounds and Victory:* The game ends when either all dwarves have died or the zombies have successfully destroyed all the gold Dwarves' job is simply to survive; there is no escape nor victory for them! - *Beyond the Basics:* Occasionally, pop-up rules or unique/custom map layouts may be introduced to add some interesting gameplay. Depending on the boss selected, the zombie's choices of class when they spawn in may rotate through a different list to thematically fit the selected boss.
