**What Is Foundation Craft?** [Foundation Craft](https://about.foundationcraft.com/) is an online game server for [Minecraft: Java Edition](https://www.minecraft.net/en-us/store/minecraft-java-edition) with a unique blend of survival, economy, and role-playing features. Players can create settlements, homes, shops, and markets in a safe and peaceful world called The Frontier, or collect resources while exploring the dangerous and uncharted worlds of The Wilderness. Players can make friends, build prosperous civilizations, and compete in a competitive server economy. The server is powered by a custom Java plugin, called Foundation, which provides an immersive MMORPG experience with highly-integrated social, economy, combat, and land management features. The plugin is built on top of [Minecraft](https://www.minecraft.net/en-us) and [Paper](https://papermc.io/) software and attempts to facilitate multiplayer gameplay in the most intuitive and enjoyable way possible. --- **How To Join The Server** 1. Create a Minecraft account (if necessary) 2. Download and install Minecraft (if necessary) 3. Launch Minecraft and select "Multiplayer" from the main menu 4. Select "Add Server" and enter the following Server Address: **Server Address**: `play.foundationcraft.com` --- **How To Get Started On The Server** Everything you need to know about how to play is documented on [our website here](https://about.foundationcraft.com) but these instructions are optional, as the server will guide you through the process of getting started by recommending commands as you play. Emeralds are used as the server currency. When a player obtains emeralds they go directly into the players account balance. Players can use emeralds in their account balance to trade with villagers, buy items at shops, rent homes, buy homes, and claim land. Players can earn emeralds by farming, leveling up skills, selling items to villagers, renting homes, selling homes, and selling items to player-owned shops. --- **How To Explore The Server** Players can use the `/explore wilderness` command to teleport to a random location in the dangerous and uncharted [Wilderness Overworld](https://minecraft.fandom.com/wiki/Overworld). Land in The Wilderness is not protected, chests are not protected, griefing is allowed, and PVP combat is allowed. Explore The Wilderness at your own risk. Players can use the `/explore markets` command to find and trade with villagers. Use `/explore markets with [profession]` to find markets with villagers of a specific profession, for example `/explore markets with farmers` or other [villager professions](https://minecraft.fandom.com/wiki/Villager#Professions). Players can use the `/explore shops` command to find shops buying and selling items. Shops are created by players and use chest shops to fascilitate trade between players. Chest shops are chests with signs on them. The sign on the chest is a contract between the buyer and seller defining what is being bought or sold and for how much. Use `/explore shops buying [item]` and `/explore shops selling [item]` to find shops buying and selling items. Players can use the `/explore homes` command to find homes for sale and rent. Homes can be created in settlements by the settlement owner. Settlement are public and homes are private. Homes can be rented and sold to other players for emeralds. Only the current home resident can access protected storage. --- **How To Claim Land On The Server** Players can claim land on the server by [creating a settlement](https://about.foundationcraft.com/land-ownership/creating-settlements) in a safe and peaceful world called The Frontier. Use the `/explore unclaimed` command to find claimable plots. Creating a settlement claims the first plot. Additional plots can then be claimed using `/settlement claim` while standing in a nearby unclaimed plot. It costs 2,500 emeralds to create a settlement, but players can claim 10 plots after creating a settlement. Upgrading the settlement will allow you to claim 25 plots, upgrading again will allow you to claim 50, etc.
